“What should be in the your Resume”

You should prepare a resume for business. You will need to a lot of copies of the resume and then forward those to as many of the Field Inspection Companies as possible.  Think 25-30 companies, the more the better. My e-book has a list of over a hundred or so Field Inspection Companies which you can email or fax your resume to.

What you will find when you go to the various companies listed is some will have on–line registration with applications on their websites. You may or may not have to forward a resume to them, I have included a sample of a typical resume, this should be adequate for a majority of the companies, and obviously you won’t have experience as such. You may want to look at some of the videos, to see different inspections we will be doing.

The other very important item which should be on your resume is a list of zip codes which you can easily cover, both in travel time and accessibility to that zip code.  Understand that the field inspection companies use zip codes to track and send their business out to. I started out with zip codes that were with in 15 minutes of my office, be smart and think about your area of the country you are in.  A highly urban area of the country may have 3-5 zip codes which are in that 15-20 minute drive time. That will supply you with a lot of inspections.

Remember, our compensation is based on the number of inspections we can do, the type of inspections and how efficient we are.  Driving for a hour to do one inspection isn’t worthwhile so don’t tell the company you can do an inspection 40 miles away, you won’t do the inspection on time and the company will nor appreciate the delay.
General resume items:

Name:
Business Name:
Address
EIN# (business entity)
SS# (independent contractor)
Contact numbers: cell/home business
Email address:
List the zip codes that you can cover.
You may list some of the inspections you can do, use common sense.

Keep track of who sends either an email response or phone call. You can follow-up with them since not all of the companies you send the resume to will respond or have inspections for you. WE WANT TO BUILD OUR BUSINESS WITH AT LEAST 4-6 COMPANIES; this will insure that we have an adequate number of inspections coming in.
